ITCZ 101 - A Calm, Cool Demeanor
Getting In The Cool Zone comes from a willingness and the practice of choosing a state of mind that is calm, cool and peaceful. This is the initial objective of In The Cool Zone and our namesake. When a situation is thrust upon us how do we respond?
We may find ourselves angry before we know it. When that happens we want to "throw a switch" and move to a calm, cool, peaceful demeanor.
If we find ourselves angry, we shift to cool. If we get scared, we shift to poised. If we get frustrated, we shift to calm. We are not talking about removing or suppressing the negative emotion that is coursing through us. Those feelings are not our enemy until we submit to them. What we want to do is put them in their proper place which is to give way to our mind.

A "Go-To" State Of Mind
When events begin to unfold around you and you find yourself in a stressful, frustrating or scary situation we need a mechanism and thought process that we can lean on. Take Action!
What are the top 2 emotions that get the best of you?
Write them down and list 3 reasons how shifting to a calm, cool, peaceful demeanor are a much better way to go. List the reasons why it's a better way to live.
Then follow up with prayer and mental reps of being in the situation that triggers the emotion and step through shifting your emotions to the background and begin to think first. A little practice will go a long way.
Even while the emotions are in place and you are thinking, you will still feel them. That's OK! We are not trying to suppress them.
We are training them to conform to our thinking, so they are going to fight back at first. Each encounter your feelings will emulate your thinking more and more.
