ITCZ 101 - The Holy Spirit Leads 1

In the process of preparing our mind we need to be clear about who does what in the process of salvation and growing in the Lord. Remember that we want to do the things God told us to do and just as important, we need to let God do the things He said He would do.

Delivering The Gospel

When we obey the command to go into all the world and preach the Good News to everyone, that is our part. The Holy Spirit will bring the conviction. He will bring the salvation. He will bring the growth.

And He (the Holy Spirit), when He comes, will convict the world concerning sin and righteousness and judgment; - John 16:8 NASB

God gives the increase.

When we deliver the Gospel, do the works He gave us to do and let the Holy Spirit do his job, we stand in faith. We are not required to convict anyone. We actually can't. That is a job for the Holy Spirit. Let Him do His job.

You Just Never Know

We should continue to improve our expertise of delivering the Gospel and presenting it at every opportunity. However, my experience with delivering the Gospel or even just working through a biblical doctrine or truth with someone, is that the thing I thought was the big hit, wasn't.

A seemingly insignificant point, that for me had no consequence to what I was trying to say, stood out to the other person. It turned out to be the information they needed to receive the Lord or grow in the Lord. You just never know what a person needs to hear to spark their faith but the Holy Spirit does. Praise God!

"But when they hand you over, do not worry about how or what you are to say; for it will be given you in that hour what you are to say. "For it is not you who speak, but it is the Spirit of your Father who speaks in you." - Matthew 10:19-20 NASB

He Does His Job

Was my preparation then necessary? Sure it was! Learning the scriptures and becoming skillful in the Word of God is God's plan for all of us. Learning the Word and doing the works is the only way to know the Lord.

The take away is that we have responsibilities that are very serious, yet very doable. Likewise, it's important to understand that the Holy Spirit will always do His job.

Take Action!

Have you ever feared that you didn't say the right things when telling someone about the Lord?
Indeed. Many times going right to second guessing can happen when reflecting on an encounter. It's fair to evaluate our presentation of the Gospel but don't let doubt get in your way. Have faith. The Holy Spirit is responsible for delivering conviction.
We plant and water. God gives the increase.

Since the Holy Spirit convicts why should I have to prepare myself?
You don't. I bet you didn't expect that! :-)
However, if you don't prepare yourself, you are going to lead a life that the Lord did not intend for you. If we take it lightly we will never know Him.
If we take it seriously we will become an effective member of the Kingdom of God with a fantastic reward both now and in heaven.
More importantly, we grow closer and closer to our Lord and Savior, which is the whole purpose of God's plan.

If we do the works, He is glorified and we become more and more like Him. You can do this! Start with the small things. Be faithful. The big stuff will follow.

Please, add your thoughts in the comment section.
