3 Functional Systems, 1 Person

We interrupt this broadcast for this critical update... We are not just an insignificant machine subject to the mere physical world. It doesn't take too much observation to get a hint that we are much more than flesh and blood plodding along in the universe.

Then the Lord God formed man.

The scriptures give us the insight of our entire being. They illustrate our make up and detail the many facets of who we are and where we have impact in this world.

When God, took the dust of the ground (to form the body) and breathed into it His breath of life (the spirit of a man) Adam became a living soul (soul).

Now may the God of peace make you holy in every way, and may your whole spirit and soul and body be kept blameless until our Lord Jesus Christ comes again. - 1 Thessalonians 5:23 NLT

Here's how we see these parts working together. We were created to have a vibrant relationship with God, who is a spirit (spirit). We also have the faculty to choose our destiny and are a unique creation (soul). We can relate to each other and perform tasks in the physical universe (body).

For God is Spirit, so those who worship him must worship in spirit and in truth." - John 4:24 NLT

We have three functional systems, spirit, soul and body, that make up one person!

Take Action!

Can you see the different parts of your make up working together?
All Three systems working together make for a complete and healthy person. These parts working together and in a relationship with the living God is who you were meant to be.
Before we knew the Lord we were incomplete. Now we have an opportunity be who we were created to be.

  1. Great article! there are no coincidences, so what is the relationship or correlation between the three parts of the individual and the Trinity?

    1. I'm not aware of any study that correlates those things but it does seem like there could be something there.
